Mycorrhizal Fungi

Mycorrhizal Fungi is one of Nature’s most powerful tools that until recently was kept secret from the average gardener and contractor. Now, however, the secret is out and everybody is searching for the perfect Mycorrhizal Inoculum to add to their planting projects—and Full Circle Compost has it!

Farmer Craig’s Friendly Fungus Mycorrhizae are the best on the market—and we have the test results to prove it! A university study that will soon be released showed our Inoculum to hold the highest colonization rate—with fewer propogules, proving the effectiveness of the product.

Of the eight commercial inocula tested, only three colonized into mycorrhizae when applied at the recommended rate. Farmer Craig’s Friendly Fungus not only worked at the recommended rate, but was one of only two to work at every application rate tested!

What Exactly Is Mycorrhizal Fungi, Anyway?

Mycorrhizae is a naturally beneficial fungus that attaches itself to the roots of the plants around it, creating a synergistic relationship in which the plant gives the Mycorrhizae sugar in exchange for more nutrient and water uptake. In essence, the mycorrhizae act as an expanded root zone for the plant. This makes the plant more apt to survive disease or drought or other stressful conditions. The Mycorrhizae also attack parasitic nematodes that could otherwise harm the plant.

Mycorrhizae is native to most all soils, and over 95% of plants benefit from their presence. Urban areas or areas that have been over-tilled or landscaped typically lose the native mycorrhizae, which is why it is so important to inoculate when planting. Trees and turf especially can greatly profit from the addition of this fungus.

With so many Mycorrhizal Inoculums on the market and no standard regulations for them to live up to, it is imperative that you inoculate with a lab and field tested product that has consistently proven itself. Farmer Craig’s Friendly Fungus is that product.

Why Farmer Craig’s Friendly Fungus?

There are seven major groups of mycorrhizae, and different plants require different species. Our blend includes spores of both Endo and Ecto mycorrhizae, in addition to beneficial bacteria and *Trichoderma. No matter what your plant is looking for, it will benefit from this inoculum. The diversity of the mix also makes it a universal product—for use on the Ecto-craving trees and the Endo-hungry lawn.

It has been tested in labs as well as in personal gardens, erosion control projects, and golf courses. The results speak for themselves! Farmer Craig’s Friendly Fungus inoculum consistently performed beyond expectations. Why risk using something that doesn’t?

*Trichoderma is another beneficial soil fungus found in our Mycorrhizal Mix
