Full Circle Compost Events
As a third-generation farmer in the Carson Valley, Craig
Witt has brought all of his wholesome family values to Full Circle
Compost. We are constantly involved in community projects, compost
workshops, parades, and even school demonstrations. Full Circle Compost
is just as committed to spreading our word as we are our compost.
Worms on Tour
June 25, 2008. Craig Witt was at the Yerington Library
for their Summer Reading Program "Catch the Reading Bug." He
took his Can-O-Worms and spoke to
approximately 80 children and adults.

Craig Witt speaks about worm composting!

Worm Food ready to go into the Vita-Mix

Boy, that looks delicious. A worm food smoothie

Look, somebody else is actually selling this worm
wine.

Do you get the point? They call the worms 'red wigglers'
for a reason!

This whole process is something you can do right
in your own garage.

Worm composting is for everyone!

Reading is fun, especially reading about worms!

2008 Spring Fling
This two day Special Event took place April 4th and 5th 2008 and
was sponsored by , and .
The Spring Fling Event was quite a success. Even with the winds,
on Friday we had about 15 people for seminars and on Saturday we had
about 25 people in attendance at each speaking engagement. There was FREE
BBQ & DRINKS.

Craig and Mark did excellent jobs entertaining the people who attended
and also educating them on cold-frame and greenhouse vegetable growing,
discovering the secrets for using and producing high quality compost.
Attendees received FREE organic transplants and other Raffle
Prizes.

Renner Equipment company did a wonderful job feeding
everyone with a B.B.Q. and drinks both days.
“Global Worming”
Antendees learned how to wiggle their way into producing valuable "worm
wash" from what you are currently putting down your garbage deposal.
“How to grow the ultimate “Love Apples”?
They also learned the romance and intimate details of growing exceptional
tomatoes.
“Cold Frame Gardening”
Using cold frames and greenhouses for vegetable gardening in Nevada
was also covered to learn how to extend the growing season by creating
a microclimate for your plants. We also covered appropriate vegetable
varieties, using drip irrigation and mulches.

Full Circle Compost Receives the
EDAWN Business of the Year Award
Guess
What!? Full Circle Compost was awarded with the Small Business
of the Year Award by the Economic Development Authority of Western
Nevada. "What an honor for us as well as all of those
people who make it possible for Full Circle Compost to provide
its recycling services?
The real credit needs to go to each and every
individual and company that recycles with us. Because of their
commitment to recycling, Full Circle Compost can marry residential
and urban recyclables with agricultural waste, and by combining
these materials with specific recipes, they can be converted
into valuable water-holding organic soil amendments. Full Circle
Compost has been in business for ten years. It is very satisfying
to receive this kind of recognition." -- Craig Witt. The
award was given to the business that showed the most exemplary
dedication to employees, the local community, and the global
environment.

learn from people all over who share the same interest in our
environment – and gardens!

February 24-26 - Eagles and Agriculture
For
four years now, this incredible sell-out event has brought hundreds
to our small community to see the amazing connection between
nature and agriculture. Locals and tourists come together for
the Owl Prowl, photography workshops and contests, and of course
the tour of local ranches and farms throughout the Carson Valley
where the majestic bald eagles and other birds of prey are feasting
during the calving season.

Teglia’s Paradise Park Community Garden,
Reno, NV
Demonstration Garden at Sierra Nevada
College in North Lake Tahoe
Every
year we collect the compostable material generated at our local
Earth Day festivities. We then donate the finished compost back
to the community later that year. This year’s Earth Day
Donations went to Teglia’s Paradise Park Community Garden
in Reno as well as to the Demonstration Garden at Sierra Nevada
College in Incline Village. Each organization was given five
yards of our Soil Essence Elite.

October 18th, 2005 Leadership Douglas County
Demonstration
Every
year, the Leadership Douglas County candidates take a tour of
the valley and look at local organizations and businesses. Full
Circle Compost is a regular stop on the Environment / Agriculture
/ Water Supply Day tour. This year the group got to examine – and
taste! – the difference between store-bought and homegrown
produce. They got a hands-on lesson in the Brix system of measurement
that reads the sugar content of our food.
Whether it was the good food or the great presentation, Craig
Witt will be honored as a Session Presenter
Winner at this year’s Leadership Douglas County
Class of 2005 Recognition Celebration on November 15th.

September 25th, 2005 Tahoe Forest Stewardship
Day
The Tahoe
Forest Stewardship Day put on by The League to Save
Lake Tahoe and the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California was
a wonderful event that celebrated the "Original Stewards
of Lake Tahoe". This zero-waste
event was held at Meeks Bay and was one that centered on
cultural and environmental awareness. Attendees were given
the chance to participate in tribal activities and hands-on
restoration projects. Full Circle Compost was there with donations
of Soil Essence Plus and Integrated
Tahoe Blend 25% to aid in the demonstrations. We also accepted
about a yard of compostable waste from the occasion.
