WANDERLUST FESTIVAL 2010
Squaw Valley USA
July 29th thru August
1st 2010
Hope to see you there!
Previously Attended Events
As a third-generation farmer in the Carson Valley, Craig Witt has brought all of his wholesome family values to Full Circle Compost. We are constantly involved in community projects, compost workshops, parades, and even school demonstrations. Full Circle Compost is just as committed to spreading our word as we are our compost.
Fresh Veggies Anyone?

Have you ever been on a hayride? Have you ever had the pleasure of eating carrots, tomatoes and melons that were harvested only seconds earlier? Have you ever been up close to microbes working feverishly? Well, if you answered no to any of these questions, you weren’t on the Full Circle Compost and Hungry Mother Organics tour in September. Craig Witt and Mark O’Farrell hosted the Clear Creek Watershed Council so that we could see what they do and how they respect the creek and the earth in their work.
They collect material for composting from a variety of sources, including Whole Foods Market in Reno and Trader Joe’s. They turn the organic waste they collect into nutrient-rich compost that we can use in our gardens. Beyond all that, they turn some of their compost into organic garden beds that are in greenhouses and large garden patches at the prison farm. On those garden beds they grow carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, melons (watermelon, cantaloupe, honeydew), herbs, flowers, and much more. These products are supplied to some area restaurants and are available during the summer at the local Farmers Market.
Many thanks to Craig and Mark for their time and expertise. The fruit and veggie samples at the end of the tour were also greatly appreciated! Click here to read the Clear Creek Watershed Council newsletter.

Full
Circle Composts' Craig Witt spoke July 19-22 in Jackson, Wyoming
during a regional conference focused on developing and operating
organic diversion systems with a particular focus on addressing the
specific regional issues such as: operating in cold and arid climates
with limited access to landfills and distant markets; integrating
new programs with existing infrastructures; and developing markets
for woody biomass.
This conference focused on the challenges of operating in the western United States where communities are often in isolation. These communities are seeking to understand the best way to utilize their organic waste.
in the Carson Valley, Carson City, Reno, and Lake Tahoe areas in

Full Circle Compost Receives the
EDAWN Business of the Year Award
Guess
What!? Full Circle Compost was awarded with the Small Business
of the Year Award by the Economic Development Authority of Western
Nevada. "What an honor for us as well as all of those
people who make it possible for Full Circle Compost to provide
its recycling services?
The real credit needs to go to each and every individual and company that recycles with us. Because of their commitment to recycling, Full Circle Compost can marry residential and urban recyclables with agricultural waste, and by combining these materials with specific recipes, they can be converted into valuable water-holding organic soil amendments. Full Circle Compost has been in business for ten years. It is very satisfying to receive this kind of recognition." -- Craig Witt. The award was given to the business that showed the most exemplary dedication to employees, the local community, and the global environment.
Business Showcase April 27th, 2006
Businesses
and organizations from all corners of the Carson Valley got
together to network and experience the joys of small-town
local businesses. Good friends, great food... almost as satisfying
as Soil Essence!
Capitol City Farm Days April 6th, 2006
Craig
Witt helped show the next generation of farmers and home composters
just how much fun agriculture can be! Elementary school students
from the Carson Area came to check out worms, dirt, critters,
and how it all fits together in the Full Circle of Life.
February 24-26 - Eagles and Agriculture
For
four years now, this incredible sell-out event has brought hundreds
to our small community to see the amazing connection between
nature and agriculture. Locals and tourists come together for
the Owl Prowl, photography workshops and contests, and of course
the tour of local ranches and farms throughout the Carson Valley
where the majestic bald eagles and other birds of prey are feasting
during the calving season.
October 20th and 21st, 2005
Teglia’s Paradise Park Community Garden, Reno, NV
Demonstration Garden at Sierra Nevada
College in North Lake Tahoe
Every
year we collect the compostable material generated at our local
Earth Day festivities. We then donate the finished compost back
to the community later that year. This year’s Earth Day
Donations went to Teglia’s Paradise Park Community Garden
in Reno as well as to the Demonstration Garden at Sierra Nevada
College in Incline Village. Each organization was given five
yards of our Soil Essence Elite.
October 18th, 2005 Leadership Douglas County Demonstration
Every
year, the Leadership Douglas County candidates take a tour of
the valley and look at local organizations and businesses. Full
Circle Compost is a regular stop on the Environment / Agriculture
/ Water Supply Day tour. This year the group got to examine – and
taste! – the difference between store-bought and homegrown
produce. They got a hands-on lesson in the Brix system of measurement
that reads the sugar content of our food.
Whether it was the good food or the great presentation, Craig Witt will be honored as a Session Presenter Winner at this year’s Leadership Douglas County Class of 2005 Recognition Celebration on November 15th.
September 25th, 2005 Tahoe Forest Stewardship Day
The Tahoe
Forest Stewardship Day put on by The League to Save
Lake Tahoe and the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California was
a wonderful event that celebrated the "Original Stewards
of Lake Tahoe". This zero-waste
event was held at Meeks Bay and was one that centered on
cultural and environmental awareness. Attendees were given
the chance to participate in tribal activities and hands-on
restoration projects. Full Circle Compost was there with donations
of Soil Essence Plus and Integrated
Tahoe Blend 25% to aid in the demonstrations. We also accepted
about a yard of compostable waste from the occasion.
